“Autumn…the year’s last, loveliest smile.”
John Howard Bryant
An appropriate quote, as this Autumn 2024 issue is the last (not sure about loveliest) for the Family Legacy Video® e-Newsletter!

Crafting “short story” legacy videos.
Most of the legacy videos Family Legacy Video® creates for our private family clients have a finished running time of an hour or more. But – there are times when we need to tell a story in a much shorter form.
Case in point: For thirteen years, Family Legacy Video® has created short videos for the annual American Mining Hall of Fame banquet held in Tucson by the Mining and Minerals Education Foundation (formerly the Mining Foundation of the Southwest). These videos highlight the stories and achievements of the folks who are honored during the event.
When I say short, I’m talking between one to three minutes. It’s a wonderfully creative challenge, and we look forward to it every year.
Not too long ago, the Family Legacy Video® crew traveled to Superior, Arizona, about a two-hour drive north from Tucson. Superior, like many places in Arizona, is a town with a rich mining history. Unfortunately, mine closings in the 1990s hit the town’s economy hard. Thankfully, a company called Resolution Copper is preparing to mine a huge copper deposit just outside the town, and now Superior’s economy is on the upswing.
Learning how to best work together has been a challenge for both the city government and the copper company. But, under the leadership of Superior’s mayor, Mila Besich, both the town and the mining company have formed a warm and successful working relationship. In fact, it was Resolution Copper that nominated Mayor Besich for the award she’ll receive during the banquet in December, 2024.
An interview with Mayor Besich is what brought Family Legacy Video® to Superior. We set up camera, lights, and sound in the former principal’s office of the old high school (recently acquired by the town, with plans to move city offices there). After having a great conversation with the mayor, we shot some footage around town and at the mine.
Next, it was time to figure out how to boil down a thirty-minute interview in order to tell the story in three minutes, and make it visually interesting and entertaining.
Did we succeed?
According to Mayor Besich, “It’s wonderful! Absolutely amazing work. I’m so honored!”
While we can’t share the mayor’s video, you’ll find an example of another Mining and Minerals Education Foundation “short story” video here.
So, whether you need an extensive personal history legacy video, or just a “short story” for your foundation or business, Family Legacy Video® is the company to call.
